StAGEs Fall 2017 Troupe

DreamWrights will host a peek into the madness known as StAGEs, a theater arts program designed specifically for the over 50 crowd. Since 2015, this interactive and hysterical group of adults ranging in age from 50s to 90s has been entertaining and challenging each other. On Monday, November 13, they will share their hilarity with the public. Sponsored in part by AARP and the Cultural Alliance of York’s Creative Impact Award, this performance is free and open to the public, followed by a reception with light refreshments.

Renee Morth, StAGEs Teaching Artist explains, “We’ll show the process of the class over the last ten weeks, we’ll share our warmups, and we’re planning to have even more audience participation this time around.” Morth anticipates that the group will also share two reading selections from Shakespeare’s Henry V and The Tempest. “We’ll also showcase two originally-created mini-plays, a collection of rehearsed improvised scenes that the group based upon personal photos. I challenged the group to incorporate at least five items from an ingredients list with which I supplied them, in order to enhance the scene work,” she hints.

Join DreamWrights StAGEs troupe on November 13 at 11 am to laugh along and get a behind-the-scenes peek at what the program is all about. As the performance unfolds, the audience will be treated to comedic scenes and touching reflections. Come ready to laugh. This performance is free and open to the public. Free and easy off-street parking is available. AARP members are encouraged to attend and will receive $1 off any DreamWrights show in the 2018 season.

StAGEs encourages active participation in the performing arts and is open to new and returning participants. Meet new people, make art, and enjoy the benefits of “creative aging.” No experience is necessary. Accommodations will be provided for those with physical limitations and/or stage fright. Call 717-848-8623 x1 for more information and to register for the spring session of StAGEs which begins March 12 and runs weekly 10:00 am – 12:00 pm through May 14.
