As the substitute pronouncer, I announce the words and call up each contestant in turn, as well as inform them if they are correct or incorrect. I enjoy hosting the Spelling Bee because it gives me a sense of authority that is sadly lacking in my everyday life. Also, the Bee gives me a chance to redeem myself from the embarrassing incident five years ago and be near the woman of my longing.

Favorite Speller: Barfeé. He is devoted to the rules and is highly intelligent. He reminds me of myself.

Favored to Win: Marcy Park. Her track record is remarkable, being the best at everything she attempts. I see no way that she can lose.

I’m not sure Putnam County appreciates the Bee as much as they should. The Bee means the world to the contestants. They’ve come so far and it is great to see the friendships they are cultivating. I truly love everything I do, from being a realtor and selling people their dream homes, to hosting the Bee and seeing smiling children live out their dreams.

Favorite Speller: Olive. I see a lot of myself in her. She has great potential.

Favored to Win: Miss SchwartzandGrubenierre. I know she has trained hard and always puts in 110%.

I’m here to encourage the losers and silence the crybabies. I’m also looking for a chance to redeem myself from my ‘low moral standings,’ as Judge Richards says. My court records are not an accurate representation of my true self nor myself around minors.

Favorite Speller: The bilingual one. She never talks.

Favored to Win: The snotty one. Reminds me of my old cellmate, Cranky Hank, who got in a fist fight with the warden. Ambitious.
