The DreamWrights Board of Directors and Staff are honored to welcome Lori Koenig as our full time Artistic Director beginning Dec. 2. Lori comes to us with a wealth of experience and love for community theatre and is eager to join our DreamWrights team. Please join us in giving her a truly warm welcome to our wonderful York community on Sunday, December 8th upstairs at the Rockfish Public House. Drop in any time between 5-7 to introduce yourself. Light refreshments will be provided along with a cash bar. You can even purchase dinner while you are out!

Upon her arrival, Lori will hit the ground running. She is slated as the PSM for Almost, Maine while working closely with our three guest directors for the top of the 2020 season. Lori will also offer a Directing Workshop and a Stage Management Workshop early in the year. In addition, we are pleased to have her directing West Side Story and A Christmas Carol.

More about Lori:
Lori Bartlett Koenig holds an MFA in Theatre/Directing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has directed in North Carolina, Tennessee, California, Virginia, Minnesota and North Dakota. She has adjudicated high school, college and professional productions in North Carolina, Tennessee and North Dakota. While living for the past 12 years in the Fargo-Moorhead community she has worked with Theatre B, Theatre NDSU, Music Theatre Fargo Moorhead, Fargo North High School Fine Arts Department, Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre and Trollwood Performing Arts School. Some of her favorite directing credits include The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Fat Pig, ‘Night Mother, Tuck Everlasting, Lettice and Lovage, Red, Next to Normal and The Diviners.

In addition to her many years of experience directing and performing in area theatres, she has also been a full time English and Creative Writing teacher, an adjunct lecturer in the theatre department at NDSU teaching World Film, a teaching fellow/consultant with the Red River Valley Writing Project, an AP Reader for the college board, a consultant on Literacy for the National Math and Science Initiative, and a published poet.

She has been married for 27 years to retired Theatre Professor and Actor Hardy Koenig. They have two “kids”aka adult children— a 24 year old son, Austin, who holds a BFA in Acting Performance from North Dakota State University, and a 20 year old daughter, Savannah, who is majoring in Jazz Voice Performance at the University of North Texas in Denton. The Koenigs also have two fur creatures who share their lives as well; a blind rescue dog named Webster and an orange tabby demon cat named Eli.

In addition to a mad passion for theatre, music, dance and writing; Lori loves cooking/baking, reading, old houses, politics and BBC Crime Drama. She is an extrovert and loves meeting and being with people. She is thrilled to be joining the team at Dreamwrights!
