On Monday, December 11 and Tuesday, December 12, beginning at 6:00 pm DreamWrights Center for Community Arts will hold auditions for Charlotte Bronte’s classic story, Jane Eyre. Making her Guest Director debut, Jessica Crowe is excited for the opportunity to direct this production. “I was very attracted to the strength of the main character. Jane experiences many hardships throughout her life. She learns from each situation but does not let them shape who she is. She holds strong to her moral compass no matter what, and I believe that this is an incredibly wonderful example to set for those who experience this story along with Jane.” The themes found throughout this story are timeless and apply to society as much today as they did when the original novel was originally published in 1847.

This show is double cast so Crowe is looking to cast about 29 people per company, plus crew positions. Crowe says that because the script has a very strong female cast, she encourages girls and women to audition. She says there are also some very strong adult male roles. “We have one character who stands out very strongly to me in addition to Jane in her various life stages,” Crowe explains, “a ten year old French girl. She often forgets to speak English, having several lines completely in French, and has a very strong French accent. Any children well versed in the French language or who would enjoy the extra challenge of bringing this character to life are encouraged to audition.”

Auditions for Jane Eyre will run Monday, December 11 and Tuesday, December 12 beginning at 6:00 pm. No prior experience is necessary. Those auditioning are encouraged to make an audition appointment and walk-ins are welcome. Audition preparation materials and information on the process can be found online. Crowe says she is hoping to take the audience on an exciting journey with Jane Eyre. “Strong characters and intense moments will transport the audience into Jane’s world in this unique interpretation. We hope you will join us in bringing Jane’s story to life!”
