Are you passionate about theater and costume design? Do you love working behind the scenes to bring characters to life? DreamWrights Center for Community Arts is seeking a dedicated Costume Shop Manager to join our vibrant creative community!

About Us

DreamWrights Center for Community Arts provides creative educational experiences through inclusive intergenerational performance and theatre arts programming.

Position Overview

Classification: Hourly, part-time, non-exempt
Hours: Up to 25 hours per week onsite, with flexible scheduling

What You’ll Do

Costume Shop Operations:

  • Maintain and organize our costume shop and storage areas to support productions, events, classes, and camps
  • Care for our extensive wardrobe collection through mending, stitching, altering, laundering, and replacing items
  • Manage our costume, set, and props borrowing systems
  • Support volunteer Costume Designers on each production
  • Opportunity to serve as Costume Designer for productions when desired

Educational Support:

  • Provide costume pieces for classes, workshops, and summer camps
  • Lead special costume workshops and educational sessions
  • Mentor students and volunteers in costume techniques

Community Engagement:

  • Assist with box office operations for camps, productions, and facility rentals
  • Collaborate with production teams and attend key meetings when serving as Costume Designer

  • Experience with costume construction, alteration, and maintenance
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and staff
  • Loves working with children
  • Passion for theater and costume design
  • Flexibility to work around production and client schedules
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
